Open Plan (2022)

Open Plan is a long-running arts programme by the South London Gallery, running community-led projects with the residents of local housing estates. Lifting the font Arial and building shapes from maps found on the estates and reworking them expressively, the design evokes the vibrancy and joy often ignored (but easily found) within the estates. Title typography is layered in direct interaction between artworks and residents, reflecting the interactive nature of the project. The outcome was a heavily conceptual book, which was also an accessible summary of the project to be enjoyed by residents.
