Indochine (2021)

Project developed while employed at Barnbrook
Designed in collaboration with Sara Ozvaldic and Anıl Aykan

Published by Editions Seuil

On the band Indochine’s 40th anniversary, French publishing house Editions Seuil published a comprehensive book charting their life and career, from their school days to their rise as icons of French popular culture. Created directly with Nicola Sirkis, co-founder and lead singer of the band, the book evolves graphically and editorially alongside the band’s story: the early formative years are loosely arranged, with collages, archival photographs and handwritten notes. The hedonistic days of the band’s explosion into the mainstream are presented with tight, densely packed layouts of documentary-style editorial photos. Finally, the closing phases of the book use a stripped back, cleaner design, with an emphasis on polished studio photography and portraits, to reflect the band's 'final form'.
